Barber Shop Website

About this project 💈

This project was my introduction to WordPress, developed for a barber business to streamline its booking needs. The biggest takeaway was learning to communicate effectively with my client, adapt to shifting requirements and select the best WordPress plugins to ensure functionality and ease of use.

The project required both technical and soft skills. On the technical side, I deepened my understanding of CSS, web design principles and the relationship between the hosting provider (Hostinger) and WordPress. I also navigated how different plugins interact and affect site performance. One major challenge was finding the right payment system—while we initially chose SumUp for its better rates, it wasn’t compatible with the Amelia plugin, leading us to ultimately settle on Stripe. Another challenge was timing website updates with the business’s release schedule, which I managed through regular check-ins and progress updates to keep expectations aligned.

The website remains in active use, providing key business information such as pricing, contact details and a photo gallery, while also serving as the main booking system for barber appointments.
